Billingborough & Horbling station, on the ex-GN line from Bourne to Sleaford, looking south from the site of the level crossing. Amazingly, considering the state of preservation of the platforms and buildings, passenger services to the station ceased in 1930. Freight services ceased north of Billingborough in 1956 and to the south in 1964.

Framlingham: this ex-GER branch was always strong on freight traffic and this picture of its crowded goods yard shows why.

Richborough, Kent: the piers are the remains of the viaduct that carried the East Kent Light Railway into Richborough Port. It is said that it was so rickety that loco crews left the regulator open and walked across behind their train in case the viaduct collapsed!

The Eling Tramway, Hampshire: it opened in 1851, connected the yard at Totton with Eling Wharf on the River Test. Believe it or not, class 47s used to cross this road as recently as the 1980s!
