Lost Lines: the Cuckoo Line
13th April 2003 to 21st October 2007

The Cuckoo Line ran from Polegate, near Eastbourne to Eridge (Redgate Mill Junc) via Heathfield. The northern section closed in 1966, the final Polegate to Hailsham section lasting another three years. The trackbed from Polegate to Heathfield now forms the Cuckoo trail, and Heathfield tunnel plus a further half mile or so is also open to walkers.
