The Withered Arm: the following pictures cover locations on the LSWR route from Exeter to Plymouth via Okehampton

The picture shows Meldon Viaduct, now converted into part of the Granite Way cycle route. The former quarry headshunt, built in the late 1980s when the viaduct finally ceased to be used for this purpose, is now used to stable a catering vehicle for visitors to the viaduct and quarry.

From graham mann at 2009-04-13 21:19:38 : I'm very interested in this pic because i remember as the PWay Section Supervisor in British Rail days, retimbering the viaduct when it was still in use as a headshunt and a few years later i installed the new headshunt off the viaduct
